Playing “Tong, Tong, Kali” with the kids in Samoki, Bontoc, Mountain Province, on October 6, 2000, was an absolute riot! I had to pick one of the bigger boys to partner with me, and let me tell you, it was like choosing my personal superhero! The look on his face when he realized he had to carry me was priceless! The air was filled with the sound of joyous laughter, making it impossible not to join in the fun. Honestly, I think I laughed more than the kids. Obviously, I was the heaviest player in the game! What a delightful whirlwind of giggles and silliness! “Tong, Tong, Kali” is found in the book, Philippine Children’s Songs, Spoken Rhymes, and Games for Teaching, Book One.
