From June 30 to July 18, 2025, I had the privilege of teaching Level II Pedagogy for the Kodály Association of Southern California (KASC) Music Education Institute, held at the Orange County School of the Arts in Santa Ana, California. From the very first day, I knew this was going to be a truly special experience.

The energy in the room was electric—each participant came with a genuine desire to learn, grow, and collaborate. The course itself was intensive and demanding, yet the group embraced every challenge with open hearts and curious minds. We sang, played games, explored new repertoire, and dove deep into lesson planning. Each student prepared thoughtful lessons and courageously taught in front of their peers, offering and receiving feedback with kindness and respect.

What made this group truly extraordinary was the safe, joyful space we built together. Everyone felt free to be themselves, to take risks, and to share whatever they could to enrich our shared experience. It was a community of support, encouragement, and joy—something every educator hopes for in a learning environment.

While I may have brought years of experience into the classroom, I always remind my students—and myself—that learning is a lifelong journey. I continue to be inspired by the dedication, creativity, and spirit of those I teach. Teaching, for me, is always a humbling experience because I learn so much from each and every student I encounter.

What a memorable and joyful experience it was! I returned home all the more inspired to keep doing the work that matters.
